Create an account

Creating an account takes a minute. The Fledgling plan is free and doesn’t ask for a card.

Sign up with your email

1. Go to the sign-up page. From the home page, choose Get started. From the sign-in page, choose Create an account.
2. Enter Your name (optional), your Email and a Password. Your password needs at least 12 characters and can’t be your email address.
3. Tick I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
4. Choose Create account.

You’re signed in straight away and taken to your new, empty timeline. We also send you an email to confirm your address. See Confirm your email address.

Sign up with another account

Under the form you may see buttons such as Continue with Google. Which ones appear depends on what’s available. Choosing one creates your Magpie account from that provider the first time you use it. By continuing, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you sign up this way, your account has no Magpie password yet. You can add one later from Your security settings.

If something goes wrong

• “An account with that email already exists. Sign in instead.” You already have an account. Sign in, or reset your password if you’ve forgotten it.
• “Use at least 12 characters.” Make the password longer. A short phrase is easier to remember than a jumble of symbols.
• “Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to continue.” Tick the box above Create account.
• “Your account is ready. Sign in to continue.” Your account was created but we couldn’t sign you in automatically. Enter your password once more on the sign-in page.
