Your security settings
Change or set your password, manage two-factor authentication and remove connected devices from the Security page.
The Security page keeps your password and two-factor authentication in one place.
Open the Security page
- Open the account menu (your initial, top right) and choose Security, or
- Open Settings and choose Security.
To get back, choose Back to settings.
Change your password
- Under Password, enter your Current password.
- Enter a New password. It needs at least 12 characters, can’t be your email address, and must be different from the current one.
- Choose Change password.
Changing your password signs you out everywhere, including this browser. Sign in again with the new password. It’s also the quickest way to sign out a computer you’ve forgotten about.
Changing your password also signs out every device you’ve connected, such as the Lightroom plugin. Connect them again afterwards. See Connect a device.
Add a password to your account
If you signed up with another account, such as Google, you don’t have a Magpie password yet. The Password section says so.
- Enter a New password (at least 12 characters).
- Choose Set password.
- Sign in again. From now on you can sign in with your email and this password too.
Two-factor authentication
The Two-factor authentication section shows whether it’s On or Off, and how many recovery codes you have left. From here you can turn it on, get new recovery codes, or turn it off. See Two-factor authentication for the steps.
Signed-in devices
The Signed-in devices section lists the phones and the Lightroom plugin connected to your account, with when each signed in and when it was last used. To remove one, choose Sign out next to it. It stops working at once and has to be connected again. Do this for any device you’ve lost or don’t recognise. Changing or resetting your password signs them all out. See Connect a device.
AI captions
The main Settings page also has an AI captions and keywords card. Only the library’s owner can switch it on or off. See AI captions and keywords.
If something goes wrong
- “Your current password isn’t right.” Check for typos. If you’ve truly forgotten it, sign out and reset your password.
- “That’s already your password. Choose a different one.” Pick a new one.
- “Your session ended. Sign in again.” You were signed out, perhaps by a password change somewhere else. Sign in and try again.
