Your first steps
Create your account, bring your photos in and find them on your timeline.
Three steps get you from nothing to a timeline full of photos.
1. Create your account
- On the home page, choose Get started or Start free.
- Fill in your email and a password, tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and choose Create account.
You’re signed in straight away, and your personal library is ready. The details are in Create an account.
2. Bring your photos in
Your empty timeline shows an Upload photos button. You can also open Imports in the sidebar, which has every way in:
- Upload from this device. On a phone, pick straight from your camera roll. On a computer, choose files or a whole folder, or drag them onto the page.
- Move a whole library. Bring over a Google Photos or Apple Photos library from the export you download from them.
Each file keeps its original date, place and description. If something is already in your library, it’s set aside instead of added twice. More in Upload photos and videos and Importing.
Your originals are never altered. Magpie keeps the file exactly as you uploaded it.
3. Find them on your timeline
Choose Timeline in the sidebar. Your photos and videos are lined up newest first, grouped by month and then by day, using the time on the clock where each one was taken.
- Select any photo to see it larger. Use the arrows (or the arrow keys) to move to the previous or next photo, and the close button (or Esc) to go back.
- Previews can take a moment to appear after an upload. You’ll see Preparing preview… until they’re ready.
