The print queue
Add photos to the print queue, move them between Needs edit, Ready and Printed, and see what you've already printed.
The print queue is a board of the photos you plan to print at home. It has three columns: Needs edit, Ready and Printed.
Who can use it
Anyone who can add photos to the library: Contributors, Editors and Owners. Viewers don’t see Prints in the menu, and can’t queue or print photos.
Add photos to the queue
- In your Timeline, select the photos you want to print.
- In the bar at the bottom, open More and choose Add to print queue. On a phone, some buttons in the bar show only their icon; press and hold one to see its name.
- You’ll see a message such as “12 photos added to the print queue.” Choose Open print queue to go to the board, or Dismiss to stay where you are.
Photos you’ve already edited go straight to Ready. The others go to Needs edit, so you remember to touch them up first. Photos that are already in the queue stay where they are.
You can also open the board at any time from Prints in the menu.
Move photos around
Each photo on the board has three buttons:
- Mark ready moves it to Ready.
- Needs edit moves it back to Needs edit.
- Remove takes it out of the queue. The photo stays in your library.
To make a sheet from the board, use Make print sheet. See /help/prints/print-sheets/.
Badges and print counts
Queued photos show a small badge on their tile in the timeline: Needs edit or Ready. Once a photo has been printed, the badge says Printed. If you’ve printed it more than once, it says Printed 2×, Printed 3×, and so on. The photo’s info panel shows the same count.
Printing a photo again
If some of the photos you select are already printed, Add to print queue leaves them out and tells you how many, for example “1 photo was already printed, so it was left out.” If you do want another copy, choose Queue again anyway. The photo goes back to Needs edit or Ready, and its print count is kept.
You can also move a photo out of Printed with Mark ready.
